What is Carbon Fiber Filled PTFE Tube?
Carbon fiber filled PTFE tube was developed to provide a PTFE based material with improved mechanical strength. In Carbon Filled PTFE formulations, the resultant material has excellent mechanical and wear properties, retains excellent frictional properties and is an excellent choice for seals and rings in dynamic and high-pressure applications. The carbon fiber content can be 5%, 10%, 15% and 25%.
The secret is knowing which is the right material for any given application and ensuring that is what is being supplied. With our expertise and knowledge, we have delivered a range of carbon fiber filled PTFE parts for customers across numerous industries.
Carbon Fiber Filled PTFE Tube Properties
PTFE on its own has excellent frictional properties, elasticity and wear resistance but relatively poor mechanical strength and tends to fail in high PV applications. Carbon in itself is a brittle material with poor wear properties and mechanical strength. However, together carbon fiber filled PTFE tube offers excellent mechanical and wear properties, provide good thermal conductivity, low permeability and is also electrically conductive.
Strengths
Carbon fiber filled PTFE tube has good thermal and electrical conductivity, good chemical resistance, improved wear resistance under load and it is very economical.
Weakness
Carbon fiber filled PTFE tube when add high percentage carbon fillers that mean low elongation, and conductivity can be a problem.
Applications of Carbon Fiber Filled PTFE Tube
Carbon fiber filled PTFE tube can be made into bushings and bearings, chemical processing components, electrical components, gaskets, pump and valve components, seals and valve seats.
